The Benevolent wins Tales grant for mental health campaign

17 July, 2019

The Benevolent has been awarded a grant from Tales of the Cocktail Foundation aimed at implementing mental health workshops for bartenders and hospitality workers within the UK drinks industry.

The award was announced at the State of the Trade session at Tales of the Cocktail 2019 held on Tuesday 16 July 2019 in New Orleans, US.

Tales of the Cocktail Foundation is a non-profit organisation acts as a platform to tackle issues within the industry. Following the success of the Benevolent’s mental health campaign #NotAlone and the first industry mental health conference held at 2018’s London Wine Fair, the charity will now implement a project that will improve mental health education and support among frontline workers.

With this grant we will be able to the take the steps needed to develop and expand our mental health services,” said The Benevolent CEO Ross Carter.

“We continue to deliver direct assistance where needed, and now we will look to help the industry help its frontline staff. Tales of the Cocktail have played a big part in helping us achieve this and a huge thanks is also due to the team at The Benevolent for their hard work in winning this vital funding.”

Throughout the project, 300 UK hospitality workers will have the opportunity to learn key techniques to deal with their own mental health challenges and to gain expertise in handling situations in which they need to support their colleagues with any mental health issue they might be facing.

The Benevolent is planning to organise three workshops in different cities in the UK to ensure maximum exposure across the UK bartending community, and there will be a capacity of 100 attendees each session. Dates and venues will be communicated in due course, alongside further information about registering attendees.
