Bombay Sapphire gin takes the top spot

05 August, 2009

Bombay Sapphire gin has become the world’s number one premium gin by value, according to new figures from the International Wine and Spirit Record (IWSR).

Research suggests that the brand holds 31.7 percent share by value, within the premium gin category. Research is based on the 12 months, ending December 2008.

Andrew Carter, global gin category director for Bacardi Global Brands said: “We’ve taken the time to create the right consumer brand experience, while consistently and carefully nurturing the brand, building Bombay Sapphire into one of the most successful spirit brands in the world.”

Bombay Sapphire is growing its share in the top international gin markets – the US, UK, Spain and travel retail.

The brand has nearly tripled in size since Bacardi acquired it ten years ago and it is available in over 120 markets.
