KWV acquires 100% of the Golden Kaan brand

The South African wine and spirits producer has bought the remaining 50% of the brand from its German partner, Racke.

KWV and Racke have announced that the South African company, which owns 50% of the Golden Kaan brand, is to acquire the remaining 50% from its joint venture partner, Racke.

KWV will fully incorporate the brand into its international portfolio and it will be managed by KWV’s international sales and marketing division based in Paarl, South Africa. The Racke group will continue to distribute Golden Kaan through its European distribution organisations.

Marian Kopp, managing director of the brand’s holding company, will head and manage the transition until mid 2010.

Golden Kaan was launched in 2003 and has sold over 1.7 million cases in more than 30 countries to date. It was one of the most successful launches ever on the German market
