Beaujolais nouveau wines will hit Canadian shelves in plastic bottles, for the first time.

The wine will go on sale in lightweight PET bottles at 400 LCBO stores from 20 November.

The release of nouveau wines on the third Thursday of every November celebrates the first wines of the new vintage each year and marks the end of the harvest.

The PET wine is Mommessin Beaujolais Nouveau, 750 ml, and it will retail at $13.45.
