UK: Akvinta vodka announces cocktail champ

Akvinta Vodka has announced the winner of the UKBG Grand Prix cocktail competition.

The winner was Orlando Garcia from the Royal Crescent Hotel, Bath. His winning cocktail was the Akvinta Green Goddess.

Over 40 competitors from around the UK entered their specially created Martini style cocktails using Akvinta Vodka as the key ingredient, in the hope of winning an all expenses paid trip for two to Croatia, home of Akvinta.

The competition was judged by luminaries of the UK Bartenders' Guild, including Salvatore Calabrese.

 The 12 finalists were:

Alex Gilbert from the Crazy Bear Hotel, Beaconsfield

Antonio Dandrea from Penny Hill Park, London

Kann Engle from the Solo Bar Camden, London

Knud Schiebelt from Bowood House, Cippenham

Manuel Soro from 50 St James, London

Sean Jackson from the Crazy Bear Hotel, Beaconsfield

Stefano Cossio from the Dorchester Hotel, London

Vincent Orain from All Star Lanes Holborn, London

Giulio Amodio from China Tang, London

Julien Lafond from the Hoxton Pony, London

Orlando Santana Garcia from The Royal Crescent Hotel, Bath

 

The Akvinta green Goddess;

Ingredients:

60ml Akvinta,

10 ml Poire William

15ml Lemongrass and Ginger Cordial

2 White Grapes

 

Method

Muddle the grapes and cordial together, then shake with the Akvinta and Poire William, then garnish with an orange twist and physalis.
