Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry, the Northern Irish founders of The Dead Rabbit in New York, have announced a parting of ways, marking the end of an era – and the start of another.

The Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog in New York will open a site in New Orleans' French Quarter next year ahead of a US, then global expansion, Drinks International can exclusively reveal.

The new menu of New York-based Cuban-American bar BlackTail launches in September. It is the bar’s most ambitious yet, telling the story of the Cuban Revolution.

Dead Rabbit co-founder Sean Muldoon has vowed that the bar will “bounce back” after it was closed indefinitely following a fire in the early hours of Sunday, 1 July.
