Strong demand in the UK and China allowed Australia to increase wine exports by 4% during the 12 months to September 30.

Australian wine exports to China (including
 Hong Kong and Macau) increased by 51% for the year to March 2018, totalling $1.04bn – a first for exports to a single country – according to data released by Wine Australia.

Wine Australia, the generic body for the Australian wine industry, has announced that the value of exports grew by 11%, driven by bottled exports, particularly at higher price points, from July 2015 to June 2016.

Wine Australia has announced that its exports have jumped 14% to AUS$2.1 billion in 2015, the highest growth in value since October 2007.

Wine Australia and the Daniel Pontifex Memorial Trust are searching for the next big name in hospitality.

Master of wine Laura Jewell is leaving Tesco to become Wine Australia’s regional director for Europe including the UK following the untimely death of Yvonne May.

The wine trade is in mourning after Wine Australia’s UK/Europe Regional Director Yvonne May lost her battle against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and passed away on Friday, aged 53.
