St Andrews-based Eden Mill Distillery has been acquired from administration by a private equity firm, saving the jobs of its 42 staff members.

Distilled Spirits Council CEO Chris Swonger has urged the Trump administration to push for zero-for-zero tariffs following the release of a joint trade statement between the US and EU.

Irish whiskey brand Waterford entered administration earlier this week after failing to raise fresh funding.

East London Liquor Co has been bought out of administration following “harsh new conditions” on its Time to Pay agreement with HMRC.

Both parties have expressed their delight by Saturday’s announcement that the US and EU have agreed to lift retaliatory tariffs on American whiskey.
