The Torres winery, situated in Curicó, Maule, has lost 300 casks, a 100,000 litre stainless steel vat and thousands of bottles.
The main structure of the building has withstood the quake, however.
Miguel A. Torres has been in constant contact with the winemaker Fernando Almeda, who has confirmed that in principle there have been no personal losses.
The winery's president, Miguel Torres Maczassek (5th generation of the Torres Family) was on a business trip in the United States with his family at the time and is now trying to return to Chile to begin the task of rebuilding with the rest of the team.
Torres is sending 50,000 Euros to the Curicó council to help alleviate the difficulties faced by those in need.
A statement from the company also said: “The needs of their staff whose homes have been considerably affected by the earthquake are also being studied so that urgent action can be taken.”
