Champagne Louis Roederer rolls out brown bottles

09 July, 2010

Following a 2009 announcement that it would be moving its non-vintage and vintage cuvées to brown bottles, Roederer has started to roll out Brut Premier in brown bottles.

The change in bottle colour follows on from their packaging redesign and overhaul in 2008, which, according to Roederer, will now work in harmony with the brown bottles.

Roederer’s research revealed that brown bottles filter nearly 100% of ultra-violet light as opposed to 92% filtration for green bottles. The brown bottles are more expensive because levels of production are smaller.

Cristal will continue to be bottled in the traditional clear bottle and wrapped in orange cellophane.
