Mumm Millésimé 2002, RRP £37.99, will be available to the high-end on-trade and selected wine specialists in the off-trade.
In keeping with the house style, the Pernod Ricard-owned brand’s 54th vintage is made with a high proportion of Pinot Noir grapes (68%), with Chardonnay constituting 32%.
Chef de cave Didier Mariotti, added a dosage of 6g/litre to the champagne after disgorgement.
Bottled in 2003, the vintage was aged for almost five years in chalk cellars below the Mumm champagne house in Reims.
The 2002 vintage, which was released to the French market last year, has been described by wine and champagne writer Tom Stevenson as the house’s “finest vintage since 1955”.
