Guala acquires Plastivit closures company

08 February, 2011

Non-refillable closures company Guala Closures has acquired Spanish closure manufacturing company and former Guala Closures licensee Plastivit, which has facilities in Barcelona and Veracruz (Mexico).

Guala Closures CEO Marco Giovannini said: “This latest purchase is part of a strategic plan to consolidate the group’s business in Europe and optimise the capacity for production facilities on the continent. It also serves to increase Guala Closures’ presence in the Caribbean - the area served by the Veracruz plant.”

This is the third acquisition for Guala Closures in the last 9 months.  Bulgarian company Danik, active in the manufacture of injection moulds for plastic resins, components and closures for the spirits industry, was incorporated into the group in May 2010. Two months later, the company bought a plant for aluminum coating and printing in Magenta (Milan).

Guala Closures Group said it closed the year with an “increase in sales in excess of 19%”.
