30 January, 2012

Pernod Ricard USA has announced the appointment of Southern Wine & Spirits of America as its spirits and wine distributor in the state of Washington.

Martin Crane, senior vice president of sales at Pernod Ricard USA, said the move - which is effective March 1 - coincides with the “privatisation of Washington’s market”.

He said: “This appointment further enhances our powerful route to market, which now includes relationships with Southern Wine and Spirits in 28 markets across the U.S.

“Aligning our premium portfolio with dedicated resources from Southern will create significant opportunities for mutual growth.”

Wayne Chaplin, pesident and chief executive officer of Southern Wine & Spirits, said: “We are honored Pernod Ricard has selected Southern as its exclusive distributor in Washington as the state transitions to an open market for spirits.

“This appointment reflects the deep trust the two companies have in each as well as our commitment to execution and brand growth across our 28-market joint footprint.”
