The Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Madeira Cask Finish is said to celebrate the pioneering spirit of Portuguese explorers in the 15thCentury.
The 19 year old single malt is described as: “Rich and delicious, with aromas of ripe fig, caramelised fruit and spicy notes of cinnamon and black pepper.”
Glenfiddich malt master, Brian Kinsman said: “In 1886, our founder, William Grant set out on his very own journey to fulfil a lifelong ambition. With the help of his family he built the Glenfiddich Distillery by hand and, nearly 125 years later, this pioneering spirit remains.
“It’s truly wonderful to release Glenfiddich ‘Age of Discovery’ Madeira Cask Finish, which is the first time Glenfiddich has used Madeira casks to finish a whisky, and celebrates the pioneering spirit we share with such intrepid explorers,” said Kinsman.
Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Madeira Cask Finish features a black glass bottle embellished with a red cartouche compass, encased in an outer display box, adorned with illustrations, mapping out the travels of Portuguese explorers.
Portuguese explorers pioneered sea routes from Europe to Thailand and Malaysia, in search of the sea passage to India. They established cities in China and discovered the islands of Porto Santo and Madeira.
