McLaren Vale appoints new CEO

The McLaren Vale Grape, Wine and Tourism Association (MVGWTA), the generic body that represents growers in the premium wine producing region in south-east Australia, has announced the appointment of a new chief executive officer.

Peter Ali is a prominent sports administrator and Olympian. He represented Australiain basketball at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow. MVGWTA says Ali  has an impressive track record at the highest levels of administration and facility management in areas of change management, people development and strong fiscal responsibility in multi-functional organisations such as the National Basketball League (NBL), South Australian Netball Association (SANA), Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA), and most recently with Hockey SA (HSA), the South Australian Rugby League (SARL) and the Government of South Australia’s Office for Recreation and Sport.

The association says Ali is known for his integrity and demonstrates strong corporate vision, encompassing business strategy, analytical skills, relationship building, financial aptitude and legislative development.

Ali starts his position on April 16.
