Crabbie’s expands into US and Canada

31 May, 2012

Halewood International has expanded the distribution of its Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer brand into the US and Canada.

In the US Crabbie’s will be imported through St Killian Importing Company, part of the L Knife Group.

Initially the brand will be launched in New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, Washington DC, California, Illinois, Texas, Kentucky, Ohio and Wisconsin, prior to a nationwide roll out later in the year.

In Canada distribution will be controlled by Bruce Ashley Group.

Crabbie’s will be available in 50cl bottles in Canada (CAD$3.65) and the US (US$3.49-US$3.99) - where a 33cl four pack (US$9.99) will also be available.

According to Halewood, the target consumers are 25-45 year old men and women interested in premium imported beers and ciders.

Allan Dickson, sales and marketing director for Halewood International, said: “The ginger phenomenon experienced in the UK following the launch of Crabbie’s has successfully driven the creation of a ginger category in its own right, something which Halewood International is aiming to replicate worldwide.

“Our global portfolio now includes the US, Canada and Australia with further international expansions in the pipeline.”
