UK: William Grant’s distribution arm First Drinks has launched Icelandic vodka, Reyka.

The brand is wholly owned by William Grant & Sons and a listing have been secured in Waitrose, while seeding is taking place in “premium bars across the UK”.

The vodka is produced in small batches of 890 litres at a time at its distillery in Borganes, Iceland. It is filtered through lava rock and spring water and distilled in a copper-pot still.

Hayley Aldous, senior brand manager said: “2012 is proving to be an extremely exciting year for our vodka portfolio. Reyka has an exceptional taste reputation overseas and we are thrilled to have secured the Waitrose listing and look forward to establishing the brand in the UK market.”

Reyka will sit alongside Green Mark and Żubrόwka in the First Drinks portfolio. It will be priced at RRP of £25 for a 70cl bottle.
