15 August, 2012

Angostura is on the lookout for bartenders to take part in the national heats of its Global Cocktail Challenge 2013, a competition which culminates in the selection of its global brand ambassador.

Bartenders in the UK can now register for selection for the national heats which take place at London Cocktail Week on Thursday October 11.

Heats will also take place in September and October in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe (a preliminary qualification round will take place between EU countries beforehand), Australia,  South America, Africa, Taiwan, Russia, India, Trinidad and the Caribbean.

To enter Global Cocktail Challenge 2013, which culminates in a final in Port of Spain, Trinidad in February 2013, UK bartenders must submit a three-minute video of themselves making a cocktail containing Angostura bitters to facebook.com/AngosturaUK.

For UK bartenders, the deadline for entry is September 14 2012.

Twelve bartenders, including contestants from India, New Zealand, Russia and from countries in South America, will compete in the 2013 final for the chance to be named Angostura’s global brand ambassador and receive a $10,000 prize.

Alison Gibb, international brand manager for Angostura, said: “We’re expecting an extremely high calibre of entrants to this year’s UK contest, making it one of the highlights of London Cocktail Week.

“Our finalists seem to get better each year and we can’t wait to see the cocktails they will be sharing with us.

“It will definitely be a fierce competition where the versatility and excellence of the brand will be shown to its fullest extent.”
