Barack Obama has White House brewery

15 August, 2012

The Obama administration has confirmed that there is a microbrewery at the White House which produces a beer called White House Honey Ale.

According to USA Today, White House spokesman Jay Carney told Iowans about the facility during the president’s three-day election campaign tour of the state.

"There is a home brew, if you will, at the White House," Carney is reported to have said.

White House Honey Ale is said to be available in light and dark varieties, with the honey apparently taken from Michelle Obama’s garden beehive.

"I think I've only tried the light, and it's quite refreshing," Carney is reported to have told US journalists.

According to sources, the beer is brewed by the White House kitchen staff using equipment bought by the Obamas.
