Glenfarclas launches travel retail 18-year old

15 January, 2013

Glenfarclas is to launch an 18-year old single malt to global travel retail.

As is the distillery style, the whisky is heavily sherried and bottled at natural colour. It has an abv of 43%.

Glenfarclas 18 Years is exclusive to the sector and priced at £75 per 1 litre.

The launch event will take place from January 17-20 at the Cinderella Whisky Fair, the floating whisky festival organised by Finish ferry operator Viking Line.

Tasting notes, according to Glenfarclas, are as follows:

“Colour: Sunshine on a barley field. Nose: A lovely freshness revealing sweet honeycomb notes jostling with lemon and a hint of vanilla. Time and a few drops of water release more citrus fruits and roasted hazelnuts.

“Flavour: Fuller and more powerful than suggested by the appearance and aroma. Sweet honey and citrus notes on the nose evolve to creamy fudge, dried fruits, almonds, cox’s apples and prunes. Finish: Long lasting, smooth and satisfying.”
