First Cape wine heads to Ireland

25 March, 2013

South African wine brand First Cape has launched in Ireland.

First Cape will be launching its main core range of full strength wines, including its lighter styles (First Cape Café Collection and First Cape Light) in Tesco and Dunnes. Brand Phoenix which owns First Cape has also secured a partnership with distributors Classic Drinks, to aid growth in Ireland.

First Cape is a global sponsor of the British and Irish Lions Tour and at the end of last year announced Irish rugby icon, Jamie Heaslip as the company’s brand ambassador in Ireland.

Steve Barton, joint UK director of Brand Phoenix, said: “We are really excited to be breaking in to the Irish market. Growth in Ireland is a key part of our new global strategy and we are committed to long-term investment in the Irish market with robust plans in place for both First Cape Light and our core range of full strength wines.

“We are currently in exciting negotiations with a number of retailers to further boost our presence in Ireland and will be in a position to announce significant plans following the British and Irish Lions Tour. With the first Lions team training session being hosted in Dublin for the first time in 125 years, this is ideal timing for us to further promote the brand and our association with the Tour.”
