Leon Dalloway

Leon Dalloway from C.O.L.D Bar in London has been crowned winner of the Inspired by Sloane's cocktail competition.

The Briton prevailed from a field of 75 bartenders in total, the contest having been competed over multiple-heats across England, Scotland and Holland.

In the final, six UK bartenders – selected from heats in London, Manchester and Edinburgh – met with four Dutch competitors to battle it out for the €1,000 prize.

Dalloway’s winning ‘Hans off my Daughter’ cocktail was an unusual marriage of gin and stout, and a nod to the gin’s founder Hans Sloane, who apparently deemed his daughter’s choice of husband unsuitable.

Served with a garnish of Sloane’s Gin based chutney and bacon crisps, the cocktail had a savoury bent.

The judging panel comprised: Gary Sharpen, The Cocktail Lovers; Dave Marsland, The Drinks Enthusiast; and Dutch cocktail writer Albert van Beeck Calkoen.

The bartenders that took part were: Leon Dalloway from C.O.L.D Bar, London; Daniel Cook from Southsider Cocktail Club, London; Alex Jones from Almost Famous, Manchester; Chris Mosey from Keko Moku, Manchester; Charlene Holt from Apotheca, Manchester; Michael Cameron from Guy's Restaurant & Bar, Glasgow; Rudy van den Blink, Mecure Hotel Amersfoort Centre; Oscar Allan Eastman, Dvars Amsterdam; Marcel van der Ben, Bar Consultant; Philip Trinh Quan Huy, Freelance bartender.
