Fair Spirits, the fair-trade spirits company, has launched a rum to the UK market through Coe Vintners.

Also available in France through La Maison du Whisky, the Belize rum joins Fair Quinoa Vodka in the company’s stable.

The rum, which has an RRP of £38.00 for a 70cl bottle, has been “ethically produced” by growers that are members of the Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association, says Fair Spirits.

According to the French company, its sustainable, fair-trade model “enables farmers to cover their production costs, live from farming, educate their children and build schools”.

Fair Rum is made from molasses from organic sugar cane and aged for five years in American oak barrels. It is shipped to Cognac, France, for finishing.

Harvey Nichols, Gerry’s and Wholefood Markets have off-trade stockists. Fair Spirits are also availble in the UK on-trade in selected bars.
