Auchentoshan Switch announces European venue

The Auchentoshan Switch, a cocktail competition that offers two bartenders transatlantic internships has announced Mr Fogg’s, London, will host the UK leg.  
    

In its third year, the competition is open to all  bartenders in the UK and throughout Europe, as well the US and Canada. 
 
In a preview of the ‘switch’  competition, last year’s winner Aidan Bowie and North American Chris Dennis made their take on an Auchentoshan cocktail-The English Breakfast Tea and The Star Spangled Maple Leaf. Bowie’s Breakfast Tea took the top prize.  
 
Rhona Fyfe, brand manager for Auchentoshan said: “Auchentoshan Switch has grown from strength to strength over the past three years and we are delighted with the huge number of entries it receives each year, as well as the fabulously inventive cocktail that are made too.”
 
The regional heats will take place from August ahead of the grand final on October 30. The North American location has yet to be announced.

The English Breakfast Tea consisted of: 50ml Auchentoshan Three Wood, 50ml Coconut water, 50ml Assam tea chilled, 12.5ml px sherry, 12.5 vanilla syrup, 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Stir until chilled and garnish with nutmeg. 
 
The Star Spangled Maple Leaf comprised of: 60 Auchentoshan 3 wood, 15 salted popcorn cordial, 15 Blossom sour cherry, 10 maple syrup, 6 dash Peychauds bitters. Top with Quartet Californian sparkling wine. Serve in a flute with a cinnamon sugar rim on a maple leaf coaster.
