Bonhams to auction methuselah of Pol Roger 2004

29 August, 2014

A methuselah of Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs 2004 - estimated at £5,000-£10,000 - is to be auctioned at Bonhams, London on September 11, in aid of the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation.

Maison Pol Roger produced a one-of-a-kind Methuselah - equivalent to 8 bottles, to celebrate the launch of the Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs 2004. It was was unveiled at the Riders and Owners’ party at Badminton Horse Trials 2014 by professional event rider, Laura Collett.

Collett enjoyed an astronomical rise to success when, in 2013, she had a fall which left her in a coma for a week with a fractured shoulder, punctured lung, lacerated liver, two broken ribs and permanent loss of vision in one eye. She has made a remarkable recovery and has returned to eventing.

At Collett’s request the proceeds of the sale will be donated to the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation, to fund innovative medical research into repairing and curing spinal cord injury.

The newly released Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs 2004 is exclusively made from Chardonnays selected from the grands crus of the Côte des Blancs;  Oiry, Chouilly, Cramant, Avize and Oger.
