Ex-Bacardi Canada president warns of Bacardi downfall

19 June, 2015

Rob McPherson, former president of Bacardi Canada, has urged Facundo Bacardi not to “let Bacardi go off the cliff”.

In an open letter McPherson states Bacardi does “not have the competitive advantage”, “acts with passion but without discretion” and has “forgotten that consumers decide relevancy”.

The former president says he “thoroughly enjoyed” his nine years at Bacardi and is “proud” of the work they did but felt “compelled” to write the strongly-worded 630-word post following another restructuring announcement by his former company this week.

McPherson says the company can return to its “glory years of success” but only if it “changes now”.
