The latest analysis which will be revealed by WSTA CEO Miles Beale at the London Wine Fair 2016 on May 3, shows the UK trades 32% more wine with the EU than with the rest of the world, and that the UK is the world’s second largest importer of wine by volume behind Germany and second to the US in terms of value.
Miles Beale, said: “Britain has become a global giant in the wine industry – something which is evident from the complex importing and exporting networks highlighted in the WSTA’s first ever annual Wine Report.”
He added, “The UK is the sixth largest, and probably the most diverse, wine market in the world.”
The UK wine industry generates around £17.3bn, including sales worth £6.6bn in the off-trade and £4bn in the on-trade.
