Majestic, the UK’s largest specialist retailer with 210 branches in the UK and two in France, says it has put own-label and exclusivity at the heart of its transformation plan, two areas Lomax will be leading.
The brand says she was instrumental in the creation of the recent Majestic Loves range as well as new offerings from France. Own brand sales now make up 4.7% of Majestic’s sales - which the company’s management expects to rise under Lomax.
Seeking out parcels is said to be her forte. “I’ve had great success in securing parcels of wine, whether big, like our recent Parcel Series Sauvignon Blanc, or small, like Waimea’s first UK retailing Albarino," said Lomax. "It’s a perfect fit to Majestic’s new way of operating.”
Initially joining as senior buyer in May 2016, Lomax has worked at Waitrose and Direct Wines. She will also continue to oversee responsibilities as buyer for New Zealand, of which Majestic have a 14% market share, as well as key French regions and the US.
Buying and merchandising director Richard Weaver, said: “Cat has been instrumental over the last year in overseeing our biggest categories, introducing our most successful Parcels and WIGIGs and revamping many of our key ranges.”
Since joining the industry in 2009 Lomax has won ‘The Golden Magnum’ from the Champagne Academy and has been recognised as a ‘Commandeur d’Honneur de La Commanderie du Bontemps’ for services to Bordeaux wine.
