Alcohol-free spirit Borrago launches

08 January, 2018

Non-alcoholic spirit Borrago has launched in the UK as part of the new market for premium soft drinks.

Borrago is alcohol, sugar and calorie free and claims to have a ‘heady nose with a complex and layered flavour with a long, smooth finish’.

Founded by entrepreneur Tom Tuke-Hastings, the drink is made from six different steam-distilled botanicals and can be used with basic mixers like tonic water, or used as a base for cocktails.

“Non-alcoholic drinks choices have previously been seen as childish, sugar laden and downmarket,” said Tuke-Hastings.

“I set out to create something sophisticated, that you can celebrate and even show off with. Where you can have the theatre of a cocktail without the alcohol, sugar or calories.”

Diageo’s Seedlip was the first recognised alcohol-free spirit, which launched in late 2015 and now a competitive market is beginning to emerge.
