BrewDog to open Brisbane brewery

06 February, 2018

Scottish brewer, BrewDog is set to construct a $30m brewery in Brisbane, Australia as part of its global expansion.

Construction of the 50hl brewing facility and 3,000 sqm canning line is due to start in the second half of 2018 with beer production starting in early 2019.

The site, which will also include a restaurant, taproom and visitor centre, is expected to generate 150 jobs over the next five years. BrewDog announced in July of last year that it had narrowed its search for an Australian site to Newcastle and Brisbane and it will brew its full line-up of beers including Punk IPA, Dead Pony Club and Jet Black Heart, as well as small-batch brews specifically for the regional market.

This time last year, BrewDog opened its first bar in the US, DogTap Columbus and now it has its sights on the Australian market.BrewDog’s growth has been powered by its Equity for Punks crowdfunding initiative, which has seen the Scottish brewery raise more than £52m since 2009.
