Cognac exports boom in China and US

28 February, 2018

The exports of French wine and spirits increased by more than €1bn in 2017, largely due to the increased popularity of cognac.

RFI reported that the Federation of French Wine and Spirits Exporters (FEVS) released data showing that cognac exports increased +8.7% in volumes of 12-bottle cases last year, contributing to the overall +5% increase.

According to the FEVS, exports of French wine also increased for the first time in four years, rising 6% in volume.

Exports to China increased 25% to more than €1.2bn, while the US rose 10% to more than €3bn, making it the most significant international market for French wine and spirits.
