Chivas unveils Royal Salute Royal Wedding expression

The Duke of Argyll and Chivas Brothers’ marketing manager - prestige, Mathieu Deslandes today (May 15) unveiled the Royal Salute Royal Wedding Edition for the forthcoming wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle.

A select group congregated in London this morning to taste the new expression - the first people to taste it, other than master blender Sandy Hyslop and the duke, Royal Salute's distinguished brand ambassador.

There are only 70 bottles and they go on sale tomorrow for $10,000 including local taxes.

There are several first for the Royal Salute brand.  It is the first blend that is 100% American oak in honour of the bride. It is cask strength: 54.5% abv. The blend comprises malt whiskies aged, 55, 36 and 33 years old, coming from the likes of: Longmore, Stathisla, Glen Keith with the grain coming from Pernod Ricard’s grain distillery at Strathclyde.  The blend was put together by Hyslop, Chivas Brother’s master blender.

The bottle is made by Dartington and is hand blown and hand engraved. The solid oak box’s lining features thistles and roses.  Number one of the numbered bottles goes to Kensington Palace, the couple’s official residence.
