One of the company’s flagship brands, Baron de sigognac, has previously won gold medals in the International Spirits Challenge and is currently stocked in two of the World’s 50 Best Bars; Dandelyan and Happiness Forgets.
“For nearly six months now, we have been receiving visits from importers and distributors from all around Asia,” said Jérôme Castledine, commercial director for Bordeneuve Châteaux & Collections.
“These bear witness to the increasing interest shown by Asia towards France's oldest eau-de-vie and, more particularly, towards our Bas-Armagnacs Château de Bordeneuve, Baron de Sigognac and VAGHI.”
Founder of Happiness Forgets cocktail bar in London, Ali Burgess, told DI earlier this year that Armagnac is one of the most underrated spirits in the world, and now it seems Asia is beginning to invest in the French category.
Castledine added: “We have welcomed well-financed start-ups, independent and salaried agents, as well as companies established in their markets for many decades.
“All in all, a total representation of 10 different countries over the last few months; Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, China and Japan, amongst others, have come to visit Bordeneuve Châteaux & Collections and Domaine de Bordeneuve with, of course, in-depth tastings to back it all up.”
