RumFest raises record auction sales

28 October, 2019

This year’s RumFest hosted some of the biggest names within the industry and saw more than 400 different rum brands represented throughout the event in London.

RumFest 2019 took place from 19-20 October and attracted around 3,000 people to the ILEC Conference Centre in west London where the launches of Equiano, La Progesiva and Mount Gay’s 100% pot stilled rum took place.

Seminars were also hosted throughout the weekend on topics such as ‘Rum & Chocolate Pairing’ and ‘Women of the Rum Industry’ while the RumFest Charity Auction raised more than £10,000 – a record for the show.

Ian Burrell, self-proclaimed global rum ambassador and founder of RumFest UK, said: "The popularity of rum in the UK has seen an incredible rise in recent years, with sales topping £1bn in 2018.

“The success of this year’s festival was a testament to the popularity of the spirit, and it was thrilling to see so many people - young and old - enjoying the culture that surrounds it.”
