Vinexpo Chief: Paris show to increase spirits presence

18 December, 2019

Vinexpo chief executive Rodolphe Lameyse says that Vinexpo Paris will have a bigger focus on spirits and bartending than any previous variations.

The inaugural Paris edition will take place 10-12 February and is due to introduce Be Spirits - a dedicated space for the promotion and marketing of spirits.

The Be Spirits area will have a 50 metre Infinite Bar which will see 24 bartenders form around Paris make drinks for with the represented brands for the show’s visitors.

The inaugural show will be a collaborative event hosted by Vinexpo and Wine Paris and Lameyse believes the partnership is working much better than first expected.

For 2020 we really wanted to make something of the spirits section because in Europe wine is struggling a little big whereas you could say premium spirits are booming.

“Gin will obviously be important but we want to represent the imported spirits too such as tequila and mezcal. There will be a dedicated section within the show for the spirits and we’re partnering with bars around Paris so that visitors can continue the experience in evening.

“I really want the spirits section to grow going forward and why not even a separate show? It has very different buyers to wine so it’s important to keep them separate and it will account for around 25% of the space, which is quite a big difference to other Vinexpo shows.”
