The Glenlivet has opened its newly refurbished distillery and visitor centre in Speyside after undergoing 18 months of renovations.

Berry Bros. & Rudd Spirits has appointed Marussia Beverages RUS to distribute The Glenrothes Speyside Single Malt scotch whisky, No. 3 London Dry gin, The King’s Ginger liqueur and Pink Pigeon Mauritian rum from June 1.

Chivas Brothers, the scotch whisky and premium gin business of Pernod Ricard, intends to build a new malt whisky distillery and has begun the planning process for a site in Speyside.

Edinburgh whisky bottler Wemyss Malts has launched a five-expression range of blended and single cask, single malts; themed around the taste and aroma of each whisky.

Ian Macleod Distillers is to reopen Speyside distillery Tamdhu. The company purchased the distillery in 2011, after it was closed in 2010 by previous owner the Edrington Group.

Scotland: Diageo is to invest £20 million in its Speyside whisky facilities.

The Spirit of Speyside whisky festival starts this week.
