Freixenet has entered the French sparkling wine category with the launch of two expressions immediately available in the UK.

Freixenet Copestick and Spain’s Zamora Company have agreed a strategic distribution partnership for the Zamora portfolio of wines in the UK and Northern Ireland. 

Spier Wine Farm, one of South Africa’s oldest wineries, has joined the Freixenet Copestick portfolio from this month.

Henkell Freixenet has reported that net sales decreased by 7.4% year-on-year in 2020 after the Covid-19 pandemic caused bars and restaurants to close for several months.

Freixenet Copestick has expanded its portfolio by signing an exclusive distribution partnership with Chilean producer The Garage Wine Co.

Henkell & Co. Sektkellerei and Freixenet SA has unveiled a new name and a logo for the holding company, the former Henkell & Co. Group.

As reported in the February issue of Drinks International, Henkell the German sparkling wine company, has finalised the deal to buy 50.67% of Freixenet SA’s shares.

A near 51% share in Catalan sparkling wine brand Freixenet has been offered to German counterpart Henkell.
