The new chief executive of AB InBev has set a core profit growth target of 4% to 8% for the medium-term.

SAB Miller's Australian subsidiary, Foster's Group will no longer be allowed to import and distribute Mexican beer Corona Extra. Foster's has been informed by Corona's parent company Grupo Modelo that it intends to terminate Foster's licence to import and distribute Corona Extra in Australia with immediate effect. The brand's distribution will go to Lion Nathan. 

SAB Miller’s group chief brewer is to retire. Professor Barry Axcell will step down at the end of July 2012.

Diageo subsidiary East African Breweries (EAB) has purchased all of SAB Miller’s 20% shareholding in Kenya Breweries (KB). The transaction is worth US$225 million. The deal is subject to EAB disposing of its 20% shareholding in Tanzania Breweries – by way of public offer through the Dar-es-Salaam Stock Exchange.

SABMiller has announced the appointment of James (Jamie) Wilson as deputy chief financial officer.

Czech beer Budvar bucked a 12% decline in Czech beer exports in 2010 to record growth of 4%.

The trade has welcomed the Scottish Parliament’s decision to reject minimum pricing. This was the final time in which MSPs could vote to decisively keep minimum pricing out of the Alcohol Bill. The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) has consistently argued that minimum pricing would be illegal and ineffective in addressing misuse, whilst significantly damaging one of Scotland’s key industries.

Global brewer SAB Miller has launched a web-based campaign to help parents discuss alcohol with their children.
