First Cape to sponsor Lions rugby tour

02 December, 2010

First Cape Wines has announced it will sponsor the British and Irish Lions rugby tour of Australia in 2013.

The wine brand, currently fourth largest selling in the UK, sponsored the last Lions tour of South Africa in 2009.

First Cape Wines joint director, Steve Rosser, said: “We enjoyed an excellent association with the Lions tour of South Africa and with the focus now on First Cape’s new Australian range, the build towards the 2013 tour will be full of brand activity.”

British and Irish Lions CEO, John Feeham, said: “We are delighted to renew our relationship with First Cape Wines as one of the UK’s premier wine brands.”

First Cape has also launched a responsible drinking campaign – spearheaded by its new Café Collection range of low alcohol wines (5.5% abv) – which will run in conjunction with the Lions tour of Australia.
