Rémy Martin to sell €50k Louis XIII carafe

07 March, 2011

Rémy Martin has announced the sale of a 1930s crystal carafe containing Louis XIII cognac, for an estimated €50,000.

The Louis XIII Grande Champagne Très Vieille Age Inconnu includes eaux-de-vie dating back to the mid-19th century.

The sale will take place alongside other spirits, champagnes and wines at the DFS Master of Spirit event at Changi airport, Singapore, on March 12.

The carafe was created from decanters that were used at a royal banquet in 1938 at the château de Versailles, where guests included King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.

It is presented in a ‘seamless, full-grain’ leather and ‘rare’ wood box set.

Two carafes of Rémy Martin Louis XIII Rare Cask will also be sold at the event along with a magnum decanter of Louis XIII Black Pearl.
