Bacardi launches bartenders' website

04 May, 2011

Bacardi has launched True Originals, an online hub for bartenders globally.

The website is designed to educate bartenders on the latest trends, techniques, recipes and the history of cocktails.

The site will feature contributions from spirit industry figures, cocktail-making demonstrations, career advice, user generated content and will be integrated with social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter.

Users can earn ‘virtual badges’ by contributing to the site, with the aim of becoming a ‘True Original’ bartender.

Badges include the ‘recruiter badge’ - which requires users to recommend five colleagues to the site – while the ‘commentator badge’ is for those that have contributed more than 20 times.

The ‘thought leader badge’ is won by gaining 50 followers and the ‘mix master badge’ can be achieved by winning the weekly Mixmaster Challenge.

Bacardi global brand director Christian Woolfenden said: “Over the years we’ve seen a real thirst for knowledge from the bartending family all over the world, which is why we’re launching this True Originals online community.

“We want to inspire them through engaging content and help them acquire new skills to reach their career goals.

“Whatever a bartender’s level, from the world’s best bartender to those aspiring to reach the top of their game, he or she can find useful information and inspiration on the site.”
