Master of Malt reveals Rumbullion

08 November, 2011

Online spirits retailer Master of Malt has released Rumbullion, an “old-fashioned“ rum under its Professor Cornelius Ampleforth brand.

The small batch release, which carries an abv of 42.6% and is priced at £32.95 for a 70cl bottle, follows Master of Malt’s Proprietary Barley Spirit Drink and Bathtub Gin, also release under the brand.

Rumbullion is “loosely” based on spiced maritime rums, with the result  a “rich, full-bodied spiced rum”.

The recipe is based on a blend of high proof Caribbean rum, Madagascan vanilla, “zesty” orange rind, cinnamon, cloves and a ‘hint’ of cardamom.

According to Master of Malt, each bottle is wrapped in “crinkled brown paper”, featuring an illustration of an “old naval grog tub, bearing the words: ‘The Queen, God Bless Her’”.

The bottle neck is wrapped with twine and each bottle is has been dipped in a black sealing wax.

Rumbullion can be served neat, with a squeeze of fresh lime, or as a long drink with ‘old-fashioned’ cola and ice.
