Esporão is a private family company producing a portfolio of quality, wines on its two estates: Herdade Do Esporão in Alentejo and Quinta dos Murças in the Douro.
Wine production at both estates is overseen by the well known Australian winemaker, David Baverstock.
Esporão says it was the first wine company in the world to sign the “Countdown 2010” initiative, with one of their commitments being to encourage and protect the cultivation of a range of original genetic grape varieties. Their lab-vineyard, planted with Portuguese traditional grape varieties which are in danger of becoming extinct, is testament to this commitment.
