Diageo’s Saller wins global marketing award

Diageo’s chief marketing officer, Syl Saller, has picked up the Marketing Society’s prestigious Marketing Leader of the Year award.

Guinness, Diageo’s world famous stout brand, also picked up a global marketing award at the society’s Excellence Awards.

Saller was recognised for leading a “bold vision for a 400 plus global brand portfolio while maintaining an approach to people that is inspiring, personal and compassionate”.

 She said, “I’m both honoured and humbled to be recognised by The Marketing Society and my marketing peers.  I always say I have the best job in the world – to work with Diageo’s incredibly talented people across the world, our tremendously creative agency partners, and these fantastic brands is a joy and a privilege.  This recognition truly goes to them, and my amazing family for all their support.”

Saller was up against Matt Barwell, CMO of Britvic; Sara Bennison, customer marketing director, personal and corporate banking, Barclays; Nina Bibby, marketing and consumer director, O2 and Telefónica UK; Hilary Cross, director, marketing and communications, Macmillan Cancer Support, Rebecca Snell, head of marketing, Lego UK; Martin Stead, digital, sales &marketing director, EDF Energy; and Andrew Warner, vice-president, marketing, Monster and former senior marketing director, EMEA, Expedia who received a high commendation.
