Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge UK Winner announced

Buxton bartender Mancháin Monaghan of Monk bar is the UK winner of Angostura’s Global Cocktail Challenge.

After coming first in the heats held at London Cocktail Week, Monaghan will be travelling to Trinidad on February 7 to compete for the title of Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge Champion.

He will be competing against the winners of regional heats from Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago, US, South America, the Caribbean, Asia and Africa & the Middle East.

The winner of the challenge, being held on Carnival Sunday 2016, will receive US$10,000 and earn the title of Angostura's global brand ambassador for two years.

The first Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge took place in 2001 at the Robinson Crusoe Pub at the Hilton Tobago. This was followed by Challenges in 2006 and 2008.

In 2011, for the first time, the competition was held during the Greatest Show on Earth, the Trinidad Carnival. Trinidad and Tobago won for the first time in 2013 with Daniyel Jones, who has since been an Angostura’s ambassador around the world.
