Absolut unveils Crystal Pinstripe in GTR

13 September, 2011

Absolut Vodka has launched Crystal Pinstripe, the next generation of its 2010-released Crystal bottle, to global travel retail.

Produced in partnership with Swedish designers Skogsberg&Smart, the “hand blown, hand cut and hand engraved” bottle is already on sale at Sotckholm’s Arlanda airport, but will roll out to selected global travel retail outlets this autumn.

According to the Pernod Ricard brand, the Crystal bottle is presented in a “hand-made ‘treasure chest’ case” clad in “classic pinstripe fabric” and is accompanied by two  “hand-crafted” crystal tumblers.

Each of the 800 bottles released have been numbered and signed by the ‘master cutter’ at Reijmyre glassworks in Östergötland.

Anders Olsson, director of The Absolut Company Gobal Travel Retail, said: “The Absolut Vodka Crystal Pinstripe Bottle is a unique project for our brand in that it represents a number of our most important brand values premiumness, superior quality, innovation, our proud Swedish handicraft heritage and also the crystal clear purity which has always been a fundamental asset of our Absolut brand image.

“The collaboration with designers Skogsberg&Smart and the craftsmen at Reijmyre glassworks is yet another exciting and innovative venture in our proud tradition of creative partnerships that started back in 1985, with the groundbreaking Absolut Warhol campaign.”

According to the brand, the bottle concept was inspired by the pinstripe suit, first made famous in Savile Row, London.

Magnus Skogsberg of designer Skogsberg&Smart: “We’ve been inspired by Savile Row both in the sharp, simple yet sophisticated elegance of the design and in the uncompromising attitude to quality and handicraft, where each garment is tailored individually to measure, just like our bottles.”
