Brands Report 2015: Water

14 January, 2015

Whether for topping cocktails or sobering customers, bottled water is an indispensable part of the bar’s armoury.

By our poll’s reckoning, San Pellegrino is the top-end bar trade’s favourite H2O.

In each of the past threeyears it has topped our survey and this year 15% of our responders named the brand as their top water serve.

Considering water is everywhere but the desert, for any bottled water to have 15% of anything is quite something.

Perrier is on its heels.

The brand’s Mixology by Perrier initiative sees a renewed focus on getting its natural bubbles into the hands of bartenders.

The French brand has ranked second in each of the past three years – this time 10% of bars said it was their must-have water.

These two brands have invested in the trade over the years so it’s natural they reap the dividends.

San Pellegrino’s Acqua Panna is a little way down from these two, but five of our 100 polled bars said it was their preferred water

HOW WE DID IT

We spoke to the World’s 50 Best Bars for this poll but in order to have a broader set of results we widened the net to include responses from a total of 100 of the top bars in the world - as voted for by our World's 50 Best Bars Academy.

We asked bar owners and head bartenders from these 100 top bars to name the Best Selling and Top Trending brands behind their bars. For more information about our methodology see here.

Day by day we will take you through the overall Best Selling and Top Trending spirits, and into the categories - from tequilagin, vodkarumliqueursScotchWorld WhiskiesBrandy, aperitifs and digestifs, champagne, beer, water and tonic water to the best brands for cocktails.
